Group Service Opportunity
April 25 @ 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm
Boys & Girls Clubs of Manatee County offers children and teens proven afterscool and summer programs focused on academic success, healthy lifestyles and good character and citizenship.
Service request: Participate in a national “Remake Learning Day” at the Palmetto location, the event is free and activities are designed to be hands-on, relevant, and engaging experiences for youth of all ages and their families!
The activities we will be working on are
Cup tower – STEM challenge – seeing which family or child can build the tallest tower, measure it and record the height.
Paper chain – STEM challenge – each family gets a pair of scissors, one piece of construction paper, and a piece of tape measuring 12 inches. They are challenged to create the longest chain they can, using ONLY the materials given.
Self-inflating balloon experiment – Each family will be given a water bottle, with a small amount of vinegar in it, and a balloon, with a small amount of baking soda in it. They will stretch the balloon over the neck of the bottle which causes a chemical reaction and causes the balloon to inflate!
