DESCRIPTION:Boys & Girls Clubs of Manatee County offers children and teens proven afterscool and summer programs focused on academic success\, healthy lifestyles and good character and citizenship.  \n\n\n\nService request: Participate in a national “Remake Learning Day” at the Palmetto location\, the event is free and activities are designed to be hands-on\, relevant\, and engaging experiences for youth of all ages and their families! \n\n\n\nThe activities we will be working on are \n\n\n\nCup tower – STEM challenge – seeing which family or child can build the tallest tower\, measure it and record the height.  \n\n\n\nPaper chain – STEM challenge – each family gets a pair of scissors\, one piece of construction paper\, and a piece of tape measuring 12 inches. They are challenged to create the longest chain they can\, using ONLY the materials given.  \n\n\n\nSelf-inflating balloon experiment – Each family will be given a water bottle\, with a small amount of vinegar in it\, and a balloon\, with a small amount of baking soda in it. Unlike some areas where buses are readily available\, many of these children have to brave the elements and commute to and from school exposed to whatever weather nature throws their way.
